About us

My passion of storytelling originated many years ago as part of a drama group. Improvisation was at the center of our process and our characters were based on people we knew from around the community. This was my first taste of acting and directing and I absolutely loved it, the fire was ignited in me. I went on to complete three years with a performing arts company, here I had the greatest opportunity to work as both an actor and as part of the technical team, doing lights and sound.

I grew in competence and confidence to consider a full-time career in filmmaking. In 2013, I enrolled at City Varsity, focusing on Cinematography. I knew there was no way I was ever going to be an average student, my determination and passion fuelled me forward, this was a turning point that drove me night and day to start looking for internship opportunities that would set me apart from my classmates. I was known for saying ‘yes’ to all the projects I was offered, knowing that I would get better on each project. I graduated as the Best Director of Photography in my class.

My next step was to gain industry experience in the lighting department. I knew I needed to understand how each light works, what quality of light it produces and so forth. 

I am currently one of the first people to be trained to do LEDs in the South African film industry. I am currently one of the only 4 Dimmer ops in the film industry using the new technology which simplifies how the lighting department works.

Most of the projects I have been involved in are international film projects under well-known production companies such as:

• BBC Studios,

• HBO

• ABC

• Stars Entertainment

• Film Afrika

• Moonlighting.

Through all my years working as a Spark, LED Technician  and Dimmer op, I have never lost sight of my passion. I knew that  in order for me to become an excellent DOP, I needed to learn from the best in the industry. I have trained my eye to see a good picture and to understand how each piece of equipment can assist me to tell the story. I believe that my experience and my humble attitude will allow me to do justice to the stories and projects I work on as a cinematographer.
